Justin Lewis returns to Gateway and will serve as Ensemble Director in 2016

Justin Lewis

We are excited and pleased to announce that Justin Lewis will be returning to Gateway as Ensemble Director for the 2016 season. Justin will use his extensive skills and experience to bring everything together on and off the floor for 2016 and beyond.

Justin Lewis is a musician, percussionist, educator, arranger, and clinician. He is currently living on Bainbridge Island, in Washington, and will be transitioning to the St. Louis area this coming winter.

Justin has been associated with Gateway Indoor as a snare technician and battery coordinator in years past, and is excited to return to the group.

He is largely fluent in the area of marching percussion, having performed with various ensembles within DCI, and WGI.

In 2003, he started his career with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps playing snare drum, returning again the following summer for the 2004 season.

Justin then made his way to The Bluecoats Drum and Bugle Corps, for his remaining four years in the Drum Corps activity.

His WGI experience includes three seasons with Music City Mystique, starting in 2006, and aging out with Ohio based group Rhythm X in 2009.

In 2010, he was picked to travel overseas and perform with the legendary Top Secret Drum Corps out of Basel, Switzerland. In the summer of 2011, he spent his days and nights on the road with The Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps as snare technician and battery coordinator, returning the next summer for the 2012 season.

He recently was based in Holland arranging and designing for the Dutch sister organization of Rhythm X, European X. The 2013 and 2014 seasons were a huge success for the European group, helping them attain goals and move closer to setting up a group to travel, and compete, in the WGI Championships in Dayton this winter.
